Have you ever clicked an ad with the promise of a great offer and landed on the website wondering if it was broken or you missed it?
Don’t we all expect to see the offer applied as you are browsing and adding to your cart, just like they said it would be? However, with Shopify discounts only work out-of-the-box in checkout.
You can hack this, but it is far from simple for most merchants and even the best developers. I did it for my store Bull and Cleaver, but it quickly became hard to manage.
As a merchant, unless you have unlimited resources to create endless landing pages or hire a developer to create custom experiences – it is very technically complex.
As a marketer and consumer that can be very frustrating, and that is why we built Abra – to make discounts easier to use and harder to resist.
We launched Abra in October 2022, and since then we saw some amazing results from our merchants:
- NA Stock saw a 44% reduction in their cost of acquisition
- Bam and Boo increased their conversion by 25% and moved idle inventory
We had merchants running hundreds of thousands of sales through Abra and asking us to manage all of their promotions. So we answered the call, and for the last few months we have been working on a new version of Abra, ready for prime time, and with one of the most talented teams I have ever worked with.

- New storefront sections for announcement bar, product pages, collections and cart
- Developer tooling: you can now activate Abra via a JS event to make it easier to show and hide any component

What we are launching next week
Abra will help you apply discounts to your whole online store – landing pages, collections, product pages and even search results. This has helped our merchants increase the conversion rates in their emails and ads.
Now updating the price works well but we have found that adding more context around the newly updated prices creates more clarity and improves conversion by as much as another 50%. You can do this in the header, collection, product page or even cart.
We’ve improved our onboarding and made installation to the most popular themes completely automatically. If you’ve been waiting to try Abra, there is no better time to do so than now.
In the coming months we’ll be launching integrations with more app and theme developers, making it even faster for us to onboard more merchants out-of-the-box. We are also launching new promotion types and functions that will allow you to automate sophisticated promotions.
