Set Up Volume Discounts in Abra

Volume discounts in Abra allow you to reward customers for buying more. You can automatically increase savings based on item quantity or purchase amount, encouraging larger orders and boosting your average order value.

Whether you want to offer tiered percentage discounts, bulk pricing for wholesale customers, or free gifts at certain thresholds, volume discounts give you the flexibility to create compelling incentives that grow with order size. You can also require specific quantities per product variant, perfect for businesses that need consistent bulk orders.

How to Set it up

Step 1: Create Your Promotion

  1. Navigate to the Overview screen in the Abra app
  2. Click Create promotion
  3. Choose your Visibility (Private, Public, or Customer Account)

Step 2: Select Volume Discount Type

  1. Click Select a discount
  2. Choose Volume discount from the offer options

Step 3: Choose Discount Method

  1. Select your Method: Discount code or Automatic discount.
  2. If using discount code, enter a URL-friendly code (avoid using special characters)

Step 4: Set Minimum Purchase Requirements

  1. Choose Customer buys criteria:
    • Minimum purchase amount (dollar threshold)
    • Minimum quantity of items (item count)
  2. Select what the requirements Applies to:
    • All products
    • Specific products
    • Specific collections
  3. Choose Purchase type: One-time purchase, Subscription, or Both
  4. Optional: Enable "Set the minimum purchase amount required for eligibility per product variant" to require customers to purchase the amount or quantity of the same variant to be eligible for the discount.

Step 5: Configure Customer Gets

  1. Select Discount type:
    • Percentage discount (e.g., 10% off)
    • Amount off each (e.g., $5 off per item)
    • Free gift (specific product given free)
  2. Choose what the discount Applies to:
    • Product variants that meet the minimum quantity of items eligibility (Only available when “minimum purchase required per product variant” setting is selected)
    • All products
    • Specific products
    • Specific collections

Step 6: Create Your Tiers

  1. Set up Tier 1 with your minimum threshold and discount value
  2. Click Create another tier to add additional levels
  3. Define increasing discount values for each tier (e.g., Tier 1: 10%, Tier 2: 15%, Tier 3: 20%)
  4. Add up to 5 tiers

Step 7: Set Customer Eligibility, Discount Combinations, Usage Limits, and Active/End Dates

  1. Choose Customer eligibility:
    • All customers
    • Specific customer segments
  2. Configure Combinations with other discount types if desired
  3. Set Maximum discount uses (optional limit per customer)
  4. Set Active dates and times for your volume discount
